SugarShift is built around your wellbeing. We collect only what we need to provide the app experience, we do not sell your data, and we never share your personal information with advertisers.
1. Who we are
SugarShift ("we," "our," or "us") is a mobile application designed to help users become more aware of sugar cravings and make more intentional choices in the moment. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the SugarShift app ("the App").

2. Information we collect
Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and a password (stored in encrypted form). You may also optionally provide a display name.
Craving log data. When you use the app's Craving Reset feature, we store the information you enter: trigger type, intensity rating, time of check-in, and any reflection notes. This data is tied to your account and used to generate your personal insights.
App usage data. We collect basic analytics such as which features you use, how often you open the app, and crash reports. This information is anonymized and used solely to improve the app experience.
Purchase information. Subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or store your payment card details. We receive only a confirmation of your subscription status from Apple.
3. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and maintain the App and your account
- Generate your personal craving insights and progress data
- Improve app performance and fix bugs
- Send you important account or service-related notifications (not marketing, unless you opt in)
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not use your craving log data to train machine learning models, sell to third parties, or share with advertisers.
4. Data sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information only in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers: We use a small number of trusted third-party services to operate the App (such as cloud hosting and analytics). These providers access your data only as necessary to perform services on our behalf and are bound by confidentiality agreements.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid legal process.
- Business transfers: If SugarShift is acquired or merges with another company, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your data is subject to a different privacy policy.
5. Data retention
We retain your account and craving log data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or compliance purposes.
Anonymized, aggregated analytics data may be retained indefinitely as it cannot be linked back to you.
6. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Object to or restrict certain processing of your data
- Export your data in a portable format

You can delete your account at any time from within the App under Profile → Settings → Delete Account.
7. Children's privacy
SugarShift is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
8. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via the App or by email before the changes take effect. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
